Who we are: Monterey is a Veterans Affairs (VA) Verified Service-Disabled, Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and a Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB). We graduated from the SBA 8(a) Program and have a variety of contracts available for use.

What we do: Monterey teams with general practice, specialists, and allied health practitioners nationwide to provide local coverage for examinees. We deliver a wide range of medical examination-only services to public sectors and the individuals they serve. Our clients include the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA), the Department of Labor, the Department of Defense, and more. Our provider network consists of over 700 providers in various medical specialties and degree types. They conduct diagnostic-only examination services on an as-needed basis. These services may take place in their private office, established clinics located across the country, or during travel opportunities for group screening events.

Responsible For

Duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Assessment of, consultation for, and preparation of patients for anesthesia including pre-operative patient exam and assessment.
  • Provision of insensibility to pain during surgical, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures and the management of patients so affected.
  • Monitoring and restoration of homeostasis during the perioperative period, as well as homeostasis in the critically ill, injured, or otherwise seriously ill patient.
  • Diagnosis and treatment of painful syndromes. Clinical management and teaching of cardiac and pulmonary resuscitation. Evaluation of respiratory function and application of respiratory therapy in all its forms.
  • Supervision, teaching, and evaluation of performance of both medical and paramedical personnel in anesthesia, respiratory, and critical care.
  • Conduct of research and collaboration in research efforts at the clinical and basic science level in order to proactively identify gaps in evidence and practice, then measure the impact of filling these gaps and linking evidence to practice. Relevant research findings and quality improvement results can then be systematically fed back to providers and patients, as appropriate.
  • Administrative involvement in hospitals, medical schools, and outpatient facilities necessary for implementation of these responsibilities.
  • Involvement in quality improvement efforts.
  • May have to provide teaching or trainings for current University of Buffalo students, and residents.

Period of Performance: 6-12 months beginning within next 120 calendar days.  Specific dates to be provided by Recruiter once available.

Schedule: Full-time, M-F 7:30A-5P.  Call required.

  • On-Call Availability. As needed.
  • Overtime. As needed.
  • English Language Proficiency: In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(f), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English.
  • Subject to background/security investigation.
  • All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment physical examination.
  • Complete an online onboarding process.
  • May be required to complete a probationary period.
  • Willingness to comply with Department of Veterans Affairs vaccination programs for seasonal influenza and COVID-19.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

Educational Requirements
  • Education. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
  • Licensure and certification. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Must be Board Certified.  Cardiac fellowship trained Anesthesiology Physician Services.
