Location: Dayton, OH (Hybrid)
Duration: 5 Months/21 Weeks (2 Rotational Assignments)
Eligibility: U.S. Military Service Members authorized to participate in the DOD SkillBridge Program (must obtain command approval prior to start).

Position Overview:
This SkillBridge opportunity offers a rotational experience across two key business functions:
- Phase 1 (Weeks 1 – 10) Business Development, Marketing, and Innovation
- Phase 2 (Weeks 11 – 21) Acquisition & Grants Management Support
The selected individuals will gain hands-on experience supporting federal and state contracting efforts, participating in real-time business development initiatives, and performing acquisition functions for clients such as the State of North Carolina’s Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). This opportunity is designed to build both strategic and operational skills to support a seamless transition to the civilian workforce.
Phase 1: Business Development, Marketing & Technology (Weeks 1 – 10)
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with capture management and opportunity tracking for state and federal contracts.
- Support proposal writing, formatting, compliance review, and research.
- Contribute to marketing strategy, social media planning, and execution.
- Help implement content for the corporate website and digital channels.
- Assist with using AI tools and developing GPTs to support internal and client initiatives.
- Perform competitor and market analysis for growth strategy.
- Collaborate with leadership on innovation and outreach projects.
Learning & Development Opportunities:
- Federal/state contracting lifecycle overview.
- Marketing for government contractors.
- Introduction to GPT-based automation and AI use cases.
- Proposal development and compliance best practices.
Phase 2: Acquisition & Grants Management Support (Weeks 11 – 21)
Key Responsibilities:
Support contracting and procurement activities for government agencies (e.g., NC DHHS), including:
- Drafting procurement documentation such as Requests for Proposals (RFP), Requests for Qualifications (RFQ), and Task Orders.
- Assisting with contractual documents including Statements of Work, Justifications, Amendments, and Memoranda of Understanding.
- Supporting analysis and review of vendor proposals, award recommendations, and evaluation team assessments.
- Advising stakeholders on procurement best practices, pre- and post-award.
- Performing contract administration tasks and process documentation.
Skill Development & Training Areas:
- Hands-on experience with state-level procurement processes.
- RFX development and source selection methodologies.
- Contract lifecycle management and grants administration.
- Communication with internal stakeholders and contract reviewers.
- Document drafting without reliance on templates.
- Mastery of MS Word and complex formatting techniques.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Interest or experience in procurement, contracts, business development, marketing, or public sector consulting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, with initiative and reliability.
- Comfortable using or learning AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, custom GPTs).
- Proficient in MS Office (especially MS Word).
- Willingness to learn government procurement rules and compliance structures.
- Prior experience in acquisitions, logistics, or program management a plus.
