Overview

Join us as a Diagnostic Radiologist at the James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital located in Orlando, FL.  Part of the VA’s Integrated Critical Staffing Program (ICSP).

Location: Orlando VA Medical Center

Schedule: M-F, no call, no weekends or holidays.

Pay rate: $140-150 an hour

What we do: Monterey teams with general practice, specialists, and allied health practitioners nationwide to provide local coverage for examinees. We deliver a wide range of medical examination-only services to public sectors and the individuals they serve. Our clients include the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA), the Department of Labor, the Department of Defense, and more. Our provider network consists of over 700 providers in various medical specialties and degree types. They conduct diagnostic-only examination services on an as-needed basis. These services may take place in their private office, established clinics located across the country, or during travel opportunities for group screening events.

Specific Skills
  • 3 continuous years of Radiology Physician experience within the past 10 years required.
Responsible For
  • Act as imaging and interventional consultant to clinical services.
  • Document their procedures, consultations and healthcare decisions in the medical record.
  • Communicate emergent findings directly to the treating physician/service in a timely manner.
  • Direct the activities of residents, AMSAs, technologists, and nurses assisting them.
  • Supervise the administration of medications, including contrast agents, by technologists and/or nurses.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities to improve patient safety, performance, and quality of care.
  • Participate in clinical research.
  • Informed Consent and a pre-procedure note should be placed in the electronic medical record (CPRS) before the procedure is started.
  • Responsible to enter a pathology request when a specimen is obtained.
  • Prompt medical record documentation in the electronic medical record (CPRS).
  • Make sure medication orders are entered in the electronic medical record (CPRS) when administered during the procedure, at their direction.
  • Check alerts, which includes but is not limited to laboratory or pathology result alerts, promptly and make sure to take appropriate actions addressing those alerts.
  • Medicine reconciliation will be completed whenever medications are changed, started or stopped (i.e. typically done before or after CT /US/ IR procedures).
  • Make sure proper orientation and teaching is always provided to the residents, especially when they are assisting during interventional cases. This teaching and guidance should be based on the resident's experience and skill set.
  • Documentation and protocolling by the residents is done appropriately.
  • Orient and set up expectation for the residents on daily basis, since they may be working with that physician only once during that rotation.

Anticipated Period of Performance: 1 Feb 2025-31 Jan 2026 with two 1-year renewal options.

Additional Requirements
  • Training. ACLS, BLS, EHR, Rad/NM, and VA mandatory. Contractor shall meet all VA educational requirements and mandatory course requirements defined herein; all training must be completed by the contractor’s physician(s) as required by the VA.  Other training may become required. VA will communicate any changes to the training requirement to the contractor.
  • English Language Proficiency: In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(f), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English.
  • Subject to background/security investigation.
  • Must pass TB test.
  • Complete an online onboarding process.
  • Willingness to comply with Department of Veterans Affairs vaccination programs for seasonal influenza and COVID-19.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

Educational Requirements
  • Education. Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
  • Board Certification. All contractor’s physician(s) shall be Board Certified per the American Board of Radiology (http://www.theabr.org/). All continuing education courses required for maintaining certification must be kept up to date at all times. Documentation verifying current certification shall be provided by the Contractor to the VA COR on an annual basis for each year of contract performance.
  • Licensure and certification. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. BLS and ACLS required. NPI highly recommended.
  • CME. Must provide copies of current CMEs as required or requested by the facility. Contractor’s physician(s) registered or certified by national/medical associations shall continue to meet the minimum standards for CME to remain current. Contractor shall report CME hours to the credentials office for tracking. These documents are required for both privileging and re-privileging. Failure to provide shall result in loss of privileges for contractor’s physician(s).
